Meet Our Chief Community Officer
LEADERSHIP DELIVERING RESULTS FOR OUR COMMUNITY
Referred to as “chief community officer,” Rep. Carter is known for her unwavering support of the East Metro area and for identifying opportunities to improve the lives of residents and businesses in the district. She is an effective leader who advocates for vibrant communities and has a strong interest in education, public safety, and economic development. Carter served as chair of the East Metro DeKalb CID formation committee, which is the first Community Improvement District in South DeKalb. She is a Leadership DeKalb alumna, past president of the Greater Lithonia Chamber of Commerce, and currently serves on the Brownfield Revolving Loan Fund Committee. Carter is an accountant by trade and owns a financial education company.

In November of 2015, Doreen Carter was elected to serve as the State Representative of House District 92, which includes Rockdale County and the southernmost part of DeKalb County, including a portion of the city of Stonecrest. May 2022, Representative Carter won her re-election to the new House District 93, including counties Newton, Rockdale, and DeKalb. She is a member of the following House committees: Code Revision; Education; Industry and Labor, Small Business Development; and Special Rules. Additionally, Carter was elected by her peers to serve as treasurer of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus and was awarded Freshman Legislator of the Year. Carter was also honored by the Georgia Association of Educators in 2022 as Legislator of the Year.

She resides in Lithonia, Georgia with her three sons Roland, Caleb, and Joshua.
